2005 Tour Pics and Recap
What's New: Bankie has continued sowing
good seed in Anguilla by providing 30 new
acoustic and electric guitars to youth on
Anguilla through the Project Stingray.

The Dune Preserve, Anguilla - In response to
an increasing need among young people on
Anguilla for guidance and positive outlets for
expression, Bankie on August 15, 2005
announced the launch of the Project Stingray
Initiative.  Project Stingray is a partnership
between Bankie and The Triple Crown Culture
Yard.

Triple Crown Culture Yard is a Community
Based Organization that is registered as a
Friendly Society under the Anguilla Friendly
Societies Act (CAP 121) and along with other
Friendly Societies in Anguilla, is shortly
expected to be registered under the
Companies Act 2002 as a not-for-profit
company.   It’s Coordinator, Ijahnya
Christian,  is qualified in the fields of Social
Work and Adult and Post-Compulsory
Education with a focus on Non-Formal
Community Education.  She is also trained in
Natural Resource Management, Environmental
Leadership and has extensive experience in
Organisational and Community Development
from both government and non-government
perspectives.

Project Stingray has set as its mission To
provide a community space in which children
and young people can engage in research
about Anguillian and Caribbean history and
culture and be trained in various forms of
cultural expression.  Bankie's goal is to obtain
100 acoustic guitars by December 31, 2005 and
to begin providing free lessons for young
people on the island.  A later goal will be to
help develop songwriting skills among these
young people.

Another Triple Crown Culture Yard Project,
the Athlyi Rogers Study Centre will provide
print and Internet research material to inform
the content of the cultural products that will
be produced by the youth participating in the
Anguilla Stingray Music Programme.

The initiative will not be limited to those
young people with extraordinary musical
talents, but will provide opportunities for all
with the desire to learn more about music. A
long term goal of Project Stingray will also be
to identify young people with special musical
gifts in singing, playing instruments,
choreography, recording and management.

Project Stingray is still in it's infancy so if
you'd like to take part in helping make this
project a success please contact us.  We will
need people of all experiences and
backgrounds with insight on program
development, management, performing and
music business.  Please reach us at
stingray@bankiebanx.net.

Sacrifices we must make
Our children's futures
Are at stake
That's why the children, burn and shoot
Frustration cases, make them brutes
Visualize, their handicaps
You justify, their meanest acts, their
meanest acts

Sacrifices we must make
The children's futures
Are at stake
That's why the children, burn and shoot
Frustration cases, make them brutes
Visualize their handicaps
You justify, their meanest acts
